The "History of Celebrated English and French Thorough-Breeds and French Mares" by S.J. Touchstone is a leading chronicle of prints and reference source of famous horses that participated in turf races from 1740 to 1890.

The "Illustrated Horses" by Vero Shaw are horses represented in prints. These horses are owned by members of the English countryside, who were recognized equestrians and horse lovers in the nineteenth century.
